I love a good, classic dessert. You know, something like what you would get at a restaurant. Think Tiramisu or Crème Brule. Both of these are classic desserts, that if made well, can be extremely elegant and delicious. If made badly, both can go down the drain. I have had my share of soggy Tiramisus and old crème brules that the crystalized sugar on top has just disappeared. It is unfortunate, but true. That is why I am committed to making great desserts at home that are just as elegant, but do not go badly!
With that said, I have looked high and low for good elegant recipes I can make at home. I have already made Tiramisu and Crème Brule extensively so I wanted to switch it up. I found a recipe for crème puffs, but they are just not an idea dessert. More like an afternoon tea snack. But I decided to play with the elements and create something else with it. Instead of making crème puffs, I thought about turning that into an actual cake. I did and boy did it turn out amazing. I have never tried a cake quite as delicious that is so unbelievably simple.
