Country Mac And Cheese Casserole With A Ham Twist

This casserole was a real success in my household. Both the kids and hubby loved it. Normally, I try to make all of my meals from scratch, but this turned out surprisingly well for using boxed macaroni and cheese.

Check out what my pals over at His Heart And Home had to say about this recipe:

“I love quick meals! Especially on nights when I have a meeting or church or something else going on. I also love easy substitutes when I am out of something. This recipe fits both!”

I am all for quick and easy meal ideas and this one definitely fits the bill. I don’t usually care for boxed anything, but I’ll make an exception for this mac and cheese with ham casserole anytime!

Ingredients

Kraft Deluxe Macaroni and Cheese. Now, I used an off brand. Just make sure the cheese isn’t the powered kind.

1/2 cup Daisy sour cream or milk

1 cup chopped ham

1/4 cup 4C bread crumbs

1 tbsp. Land O Lakes butter

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta following the package instructions.
  2. Mix cheese and sour cream into pasta.
  3. Stir in ham.
  4. Melt butter in small frying pan.
  5. Add bread crumbs.  Cook until toasted, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Put ham and mac/cheese into a casserole dish sprayed with cooking oil.
  7. Sprinkle crumbs over casserole.
  8. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until heated.
