Teach Me How To Make Tiramisu – Okay, I Will!

As I mentioned above, this recipe looks so much harder than it is.  I always thought Tiramisu was a long, complicated process to make, but I was blown away by how easy it was.  What makes it so simple is that it’s just a layered, no bake pastry really.

You soak the lady fingers in espresso, and then layer it with the mascarpone and whipped cream mixture.  Top it off with a little cocoa powder and you’re done!  It is truly fool-proof.

Something to keep in mind with this dessert is that the longer you keep it in the fridge, the better it tastes.  I’ve made this a couple of times.  Once I made it about 5 hours ahead for dinner, and while it was absolutely delicious, the next time I made it a day in advance and it was even better.

The longer the lady fingers soak in the fridge, the softer they become and the prettier it is to serve.  Give it the time it needs and the results will be amazing!

Check out what my friends over at Hip2save had to say about this amazing recipe:

“If you’re a fan of Tiramisu (a sinfully delicious coffee-flavored dessert!), try making this simple version that you can whip up in under 10 minutes at home! This no-bake dessert turns out creamy and decadent and is perfect for holiday parties and gatherings.”

Ingredients

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 cup Galbani mascarpone cheese, room temperature

3 tablespoons Domino sugar

1 tsp McCormick vanilla extract

1 tablespoon Amaretto liquor or Brandy (optional)

1.5 cups espresso or very strong Folger’s coffee at room temperature

1 package Lady Fingers

Instructions

Beat whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form in a medium bowl. Stir in mascarpone cheese and amaretto. Dip lady fingers in coffee and place in an 8×8 pan to make the first layer – you can fit about 7 cookies in each layer. Spread half of the whipped cream mixture on top of first layer of lady fingers. Repeat process with second layer of lady fingers and cream mixture. Dust the top of dessert with cocoa powder using a sifter or hand held kitchen strainer tool. Refrigerate for about 4-8 hours (it gets even better in the fridge and is a perfect make-ahead dessert). Serves about 6.

Quick Tip: I’ve made this recipe twice (love my job!? ) – do not make the mistake of soaking ladyfingers too long in the coffee because they will get mushy and fall apart. If you enjoy drinking your coffee a little sweetened, then consider sweetening the coffee. If you are serving a crowd, you can easily double this recipe and place in a larger 9×13 baking dish. -Hip2Save
