Order Takeout? Not When You Have Something Cheesy and Simple to Make at Home

I was amazed at how well the potato and cheese filling molded with the pizza toppings for this casserole. In the back of my mind I was thinking, mashed potatoes and pizza? I really was questioning it, but it reminded me a little bit of lasagna as it has the ricotta filling that has a similar texture, and it was a thrill for the palate!

The second time I made the dish, I was sure to get an extra box of pierogis. That’s because it went so fast the first time that my family was looking for more. I also served it with bread sticks because it seemed appropriate. Trust me when I say this is a great alternative to ordering pizza, and it’s much more affordable! Winning!

Ingredients

2 (16oz) packages of Mrs. T’s frozen pierogis

16 oz. jar of your favorite Hunts pizza sauce

2-3 oz. of sliced Hormel pepperoni

1- 1 1/2 cups of Kraft shredded mozzarella cheese

Any additional pizza toppings that you would like

Instructions:

Boil the two packages of frozen pierogies as directed in the package. Drain and allow to cool slightly.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 13×9 inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Add 1/3 of the pizza sauce spread into the bottom of the dish, then half the boiled pierogies, then another 1/3 of the pizza sauce spread over the pierogies. Next add half the pepperoni slices and any other toppings you wish to add, then half the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layering again from the pierogies.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Quick Tip: Some like saucy pizza so I put a dish of extra sauce on the table for them.

Thanks again to Frugal Foodie Mama for this better-than-takeout recipe!
