Andy is my sister-in-law. My brother met her at his law firm where they fell in love just after a few months of witty banter. When we first met her, we all thought she was nice, but that she might not make a good mother. A wonderful wife most likely, but she didn’t seem like the mother-type. She was too independent, and she was too strong-willed. When my niece came out to this world, we realized how wrong we were. She’s so caring, so loving, and so tender towards my niece. She’s the perfect mother.
Except when she found out my niece has developed a crush on the boy next door. It’s hilarious to watch her discourage my niece from liking the boy. The boy was cute and so funny. I immediately understood why my niece liked him. A month later, I visited them again. I arrived at an odd scene—Andy was in the kitchen, seething; while my brother was laughing at something in the backyard. That “something” was my niece and the boy. They were having a “date”. My brother was laughing because earlier that day, my niece requested Andy to cook her favorite strawberry glazed bacon, a recipe from Andy’s mom. Andy thought it’s for her. She didn’t know it was for a “date”. My brother was able to calm her, but not without a few glares to the boy. Poor boy.
