The Homemade Peppermint Patties and The Kitchen Thief!

There’s this time of the year when all of my friends just have a lot of free time. I get an onslaught of phone calls in a day from everyone as if they all have the same days off. During these days, they want to invade the house of the one who works from home most of the time, which is me. I don’t have any problem with that, nor does my boyfriend—we have the same sets of friends. They don’t wreak havoc around the house and they let me work in peace so I leave them be. They usually use the kitchen to cook something or hang out in the backyard near the small pool.

A couple of weeks ago, they left me with Susan’s “peppermint discs”. They’re peppermint candies covered with chocolate. The day after, my brother brought my niece over to spend a night at our place. While I was working, my boyfriend and my niece were playing around the house. I knew he would take care of her while I finish my work. I ended up working until late at night. When I came out of my study, the hallway was quiet. I assumed they were both asleep in our room. I went to the kitchen to get a glass of milk so I can finally go to sleep. When I flicked on the lights, I was so surprised that my shout must have reached the next block. My boyfriend was leaning against the counter, nibbling on the peppermint candies with a glass of milk in hand. He was caught mid-bite. There were very few candies left too. The next day, I banned him from the kitchen.

Quick Tip: You could use coconut oil or shortening to thin the chocolate if needed as well.
