My husband likes having morning pastries and treats before he goes off to work. I think that having a sweet, special treat helps to motivate him out of bed and into the world. I like making treats a couple times a month. We typically slice them up, put them in individual Ziploc baggies, and toss them in the freezer so he can quickly grab one before he heads out the door.
This recipe is perfect for the morning because it stores really well, and makes a great companion. You can eat it with hot cocoa, or coffee, depending on your preference. You can also eat it straight up by itself, or add a dollop of Cool Whip if you want to indulge a bit. No one is around to judge you, go ahead! The coffee in this recipe really enriches the flavor, but if you don’t like coffee you can leave it out, or use a roasted cocoa bean that’s granulated.
