The 6 Best Desserts With Chocolate, #5

These Fudge Brownies With An Amazing Frosting Are Out Of This World! This is the recipe that I am always reaching for if one of my kids or a friend is having a bake sale for some fundraiser or another. I like to do my part to help, but I don’t always have tons of time to hang out in the kitchen and make big fancy desserts.

These brownies are always one of the very first items to sell. After a few people in my community have had a chance to taste them, word has spread about how awesome they are. When they see I have something for sale on the tables, they go straight for these. I’m always sure to make a double batch so I can save a few for myself at home!

Ingredients

¾ cup Hershey’s cocoa powder

½ tsp baking soda

⅔ cup Land O’ Lakes butter or margarine, melted

½ cup boiling water

2 cups Domino white sugar

2 Eggland’s eggs

1⅓ cups Gold Medal all-purpose flour

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup chocolate chips

Buttercream frosting:

6 Tbsp butter or margarine, softened

2⅔ cups Domino powdered sugar

½ cup Hershey’s cocoa powder

⅓ cup McArthur milk or soy milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F and spray a 13×9″ baking pan with cooking spray.

Beat the cocoa powder, baking soda and butter with a mixer until creamy. Slowly add the boiling water and continue to beat until the mixture thickens. Add the white sugar, eggs, flour and vanilla and blend until smooth.

Add the chocolate chips and fold them in with a spatula. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the corners of the brownies comes out clean. The brownies are meant to be gooey in the center.

Let cool to room temperature.

Frosting: Beat the butter in a mixing bowl until creamy. Add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with the milk, and beat until the mixture reaches a spreading consistency. Finally stir in the vanilla and combine well.

Spread the frosting over the brownies and serve when ready. If you frost the brownies while they still haven’t cooled down completely, the frosting may run a bit. If you want a harder consistency then when for your brownies to cool down.
