Your Not-So-Sloppy Answer To Effortless Sloppy Joes

This is great for a family of five or six. If you don’t want to have a ton of leftovers for a smaller family, you can easily cut the recipe in half and then bake it the same way in an 8 inch square pan. The results are just as tasty! I personally would rather have the leftovers than run out in the middle of dinner! It’s a pasta dish so it tastes even better after it has a chance to hang out in the fridge all night anyways. My kids can’t get enough of this and request that I make it all the time!

Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at The Seasoned Mom:

“It’s tasty, it’s kid-friendly, and it’s perfect for those evenings when you don’t have the time, energy, or desire to cook an elaborate dinner.”

You really can’t go wrong with this casserole… there’s nothing bad about it!

Ingredients

1 (16 ounce) package uncooked Barilla rotini pasta

2 (15 ounce) cans Manwich Original Sloppy Joe Sauce

3 cups water

16 ounces fully-cooked miniature (bite-size) meatballs (if using frozen meatballs, make sure that they are completely thawed before using)

1 cup Kraft shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Optional Garnish: sliced tomatoes, sliced olives, diced avocado, sliced green onion

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

In prepared dish (or in a separate bowl), stir together uncooked pasta, Sloppy Joe Sauce, water, and meatballs. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes.

Uncover; stir. At this point you should check the pasta to make sure that it is al dente (firm but just about finished cooking). If it’s still too hard, cover the dish and return to the oven until pasta is al dente. Then move on to the next step.

Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the top and bake uncovered for 5-10 more minutes (or until cheese is melted and pasta is tender).

Garnish with optional toppings just before serving.
