My parents called me one day to inform me that they were coming over for a BBQ, in an hour. Say what? Thanks for the warning. I love my folks to death, but as they get older, it seems like they don’t really think things through for everyone else. They are living on their own time. I don’t mind them coming over, but it’s like, sometimes I am actually doing something else besides sitting around waiting for you to come over.
Thankfully, a few weeks before that, I had printed off a recipe that I had seen on Group Recipes. The main reason was the knowledge I have about these kinds of things happening. It was an easy recipe that I could keep ingredients on hand for, and that’s what I did.
When my parents arrived, this had cooled just enough to be ready to serve. We had a little bit of time with the meats they brought that had to be cooked. In the end, everything went together nicely and it was great to have them over for dinner… again.
