When my son’s birthday party was approaching, I knew that I had everything we needed. I had ordered all the party supplies and decorations, the goodie bags for the pinata full of candy were set, and his gifts were wrapped and hiding in my closet. I felt strongly like I was forgetting something, but I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what it was… oh my gosh! It hit me… I forgot to order his birthday cake! What kind of mother forgets the birthday cake? I felt terrible. I called the bakery, but it was too late.
I couldn’t make a birthday cake. I had absolutely zero skills when it came to cake baking. So, I had to get creative. I remembered these little cinnamon cream cheese roll ups that my mom used to make me for a snack after school. I knew they were easy and that kids loved them, so it was going to have to work.
They were a lot like these desserts from Amish 365. I whipped up a big ol’ batch of them right before the guests arrived. Nobody even missed the cake. These stole the show!
