Grandpa was a hardworking man. He lived in the times where he knew it was his job to take care of Grandma. She grew up learning how to cook, clean, and raise kids. She didn’t graduate from high school or get any sort of training for work in the outside world. They were married very young, and that’s all she knew was how to run her house, and she was amazing at it! Whenever I’m having a hard time at home, I always think back to all that she did and it gives me the little push I need to keep going.
When I found this recipe on My Recipes it reminded me of a dish that Grandma used to make for him on some of his toughest days. She just knew when he was going to need a nice hearty meal after coming home from work, and this would be piping hot and ready to go when he walked in the door.
He would just get a huge look of relief on his face and sometimes even a little grin would poke through on his otherwise very tired and dirty face. Grandma knew what she was doing! Grandpa was more than happy to have her.
