It was my husband’s birthday, and we usually went out to eat at his favorite restaurant. Unfortunately, we were running a little low on cash at the time, and we weren’t going to be able to afford the usual treat. I didn’t want him to be disappointed though, so I decided that I was going to recreate his favorite meal at home. Steaks and garlic mashed potatoes. I was also going to invite a few of his friends over to join us, just to take away from the fact that we weren’t going to be able to go out.
I have my own garlic mashed potatoes recipe that is pretty good, but I wanted great, so I started looking around. I found a crock pot recipe on Julie’s Eats & Treats finally that looked perfect. The best part was that it could be done in the slow cooker.
Tossing these in and then moving on to everything else that had to be done that night was perfect. I didn’t get stuck in the kitchen when there was so much else that I needed to do. I lined the cooker too, so when it was time to clean up, it was done in a flash.
