We were having our kick off to summer picnic at church. It was my favorite event of the season. We got to get everyone together for a nice gathering outdoors when the weather finally warmed up. I think it’s the biggest event, just because people want to get outside after being cooped up for so long. I usually bring the same thing, hot dog buns. It’s boring, but necessary, and I want to make sure that everyone gets what they need.
This year, I saw that someone else had signed up to bring the buns. I’m not going to fib, I was actually pretty excited about it. Someone actually asked me if I was upset about it… not at all! Now, I had a whole new door opened of things that I could bring.
I went to something that I had been wanting to make for a long time. A dessert salad! I hadn’t had one in years, and I had a new recipe from Spend with Pennies that I couldn’t wait to try. That’s exactly what I took, and it was amazing. Way better than buns!

Quick Tip: Lemon is essential to keep the bananas from turning brown.
