Southern Baked Beans

When I made these for Grams at the next event, she was a little taken aback at first. She’s one of those people that doesn’t really care a whole lot for change. I told her to just give them a try and if she didn’t like them we would switch back to the old kind. She went back for seconds and thirds, and took all that was left in the pan home with her… which wasn’t much because everyone really liked this version of the traditional baked beans. Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at BigOven:

“Simple recipe that can be ready in less than 1 hour. Very tasty side dish with anything, and it was a big hit at our weekly Wednesday Night Dinner. The bacon is definitely the key.”

If you’ve never had baked beans with bacon in them, you need to try this recipe TODAY!

Ingredients

1 pound Campbell’s Baked Beans
1/4 cup Onion; chopped
1/2 cup Brown sugar; firmly packed
1/4 cup Heinz Ketchup
2 teaspoon Mustard
2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
8 slices Hormel Bacon; cooked crisp & crumbled

Instructions

The easiest bacon is the already cooked by Oscar Meyer, Hormel or Tyson. Basically, it’s priced the same. Just pop it into the microwave for a couple of minutes and voila! no mess to clean! Crumble it, pull it apart to make small pieces.

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.

Pour into a medium sized casserole dish. Bake at 350 until bubbly, about 40 minutes or less.
