I get asked all the time where I get my inspiration for cooking. Well, a lot of it has to do with all the traveling I did in my early twenties. I would always take note of the foods that I ate in different cities. One of my favorite food cities is New Orleans. I never grew up eating spicy foods, but a taste of Cajun food and I was hooked! This easy jambalaya is the perfect step into introducing your family to the spicier side of food.
I was walking on Frenchman St., which is the much more softer side of the city compared to the famous Bourbon st. Well, this particular street is full of restaurants and food vendors outside. It’s hard to make it through this street without stuffing yourself silly.
The very first thing I ever tried in that city was jambalaya. I was hooked right then and there. As I got older and started cooking for a family, I remembered this trip and gave jambalaya a go! My family really loved it. I, of course did not make it too spicy. But now every time I make it, my family wants to up the spice a little bit!
