When one of my childhood friends found out she was pregnant, it was exciting, but a little bit terrifying too. She was still young, and her and her husband didn’t have a lot of money to speak of, much less to take care of a baby with. I was in a good spot in my life then, happily married to a rather successful guy, and I wanted to help. So, I told her that I would throw her a baby shower.
None of her family would step forward and do it, so I figured I would. I had to come up with all the decorations, the location would be my house, and I needed to make the food.
I found a recipe for chicken thighs done in the slow cooker on All Recipes, and knew it was going to be the right main meat for the event. Chicken thighs are generally a bit cheaper, and it was done in the crock pot so it would be simple.
It was a small shower so we didn’t need much. It turned out super succulent. My friend couldn’t stop thanking me for the party. A few months later she gave birth to a gorgeous bouncing baby boy!
