Bare Your Sweet Soul With This Naked Strawberry Cake

I have been dependent on cakes lately. They are my go-to dessert recipes whenever I want a friend to feel better. As a kid, I knew that I have always felt better whenever my Mom baked a cake for me and my brother. It’s not just about the taste or the way the cake looks, it’s also about the thought behind the cake. I knew that my Mom never just baked cake because she loved baking, she baked cakes because she wanted to make her family feel special and happy. Cakes are for special occasions, aren’t they? And I think it’s because of this sole reason.

A friend of mine just recently escaped a problematic phase in her life. We all know how life operates- it stirs us towards different directions, testing us if we can go with the flow. Hers was a bit too messy, but she was able to pull through.

During our last get-together, I was really happy that she could finally smile again. We’ve been with her through everything, but we all know that for you to completely move on, it’s yourself that has to be able to move on. She’s a strong woman and I’m proud of her.

The next day, I baked a cake for her- this naked strawberry cake. For me, strawberries signify freshness and new beginnings so it’s just the right cake for her. She appreciated the gesture of course, and she appreciated the cake.
