Sit Down And Enjoy A Piece Of Grandma’s Old Fashioned Bread Pudding!

This vanilla custard over crusty mushy white bread goodness is so easily made in a casserole dish, I do not know why I did not think of it before! This is so simple, so flavorful and feeds a crowd.  It is also so rich, everyone is fine with just a sliver, so it is perfect for a big party.  Even though, I would suggest making a second batch because after the first piece settles, they are going to want more! It is so incredible, and I am so glad I can now make this whole thing at home whenever I want!

Check out what our friends over at Fantabulosity had to say about this:

“I love this recipe, because it only includes items I usually have on hand, and I had it put together, and in the oven in a matter of minutes.”

Yes, that is the perfect recipe for all of us busy moms! Common ingredients, and in the oven in minutes.  Sounds like a match made in heaven.

Ingredients

6 slices of stale bread

3 Tablespoons of Land O’ Lakes butter (1 Tbsp + 2 Tbsp)

4 Beaten Eggs

2 Cups Milk (Heavy Cream Pictured, but I used whole milk)

3/4 cup of Domino white sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and use 1 Tablespoon of butter to coat the inside of your 8 in. square baking dish.

Break your bread (I made larger pieces, rather than crumbling it up) in to the buttered baking dish.

Melt your remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, and drizzle over bread pieces.

In a bowl, mix remaining ingredients (don’t forget to beat your eggs first) until mixed well.

Pour this mixture over the bread, making sure to evenly coat each piece.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top of the bread pudding springs back after lightly touching it with a fork.
