My grandma used to make the very best bread pudding ever! Never one to let anything go to waste, when she saw bread that was not being eaten, or got stale, she would make a bread pudding. I will be honest and say sometimes my siblings and I purposely did not eat the bread in the house because we knew if we waited long enough it would turn into bread pudding! It was always such a fun treat and she would let us help.
Well, the other day, my daughter invited me to meet her for lunch. We went to the mall and ate in a store that had a little café. Everything was wonderful. Then came dessert. Suddenly it went from wonderful to beyond amazing. She ordered a white chocolate bread pudding. Oh my goodness, I had not eaten bread pudding since my grandma’s. I was thrilled! It was delicious, flavorful and so good, it made me go home and go through my grandma’s old cook book, page by page, until I found that recipe. I was so excited to find something so memorable from my childhood, gathered all the stale bread around and got in the kitchen to make it!
