These maple and sage sausage patties are just in time for Valentine. Valentine is in a few weeks and look at what that occasion is doing to all of us. I am not a natural romantic at heart, but there are certain occasions and incidents that always bring out the romantic in me. One of those is Valentine’s Day, which happens just once a year so I have an excuse. When my husband was “courting” me, he knew I wasn’t the type to love being showered with chocolates and roses and teddy bears. So instead of giving all those little things to me, he compensated by using other actions. He got to know my friends, made sure he’s there whenever my friends asked him to come with us, and he made sure to get to know my family. It was a subtle effort, but it was so effective.
When we finally got married, he kind of became more romantic. He told me I couldn’t do anything now because we had our marriage vows so he was allowed to shower me with romantic things like flowers and chocolates. Fortunately, he’s not overdoing it. And it actually felt quite nice at times. Again, at times. To return the gestures, I give tiny efforts to. And most of the time, I do it via food. I make him heart-shaped cookies and even designs heart shapes on a dessert cake. I already made this maple and sage sausage patties once for him. I got teased, but I knew he appreciated it. I am going to make these for him on Valentine’s too just to tease him back!
