These Frosted Sugar Cookies Taste So Good You’ll think They Came From A Bakery!

Ever since we discovered this cookie recipe, we have never again made regular sugar cookies or purchased sugar cookies from anyone.  We went out and got ourselves all the ingredients and every time we are craving some, we make them at home.  These are easy to double or triple the batch, or even half it if it is just a few people eating.  Play with colors and textures and find exactly what you like and have fun decorating them.  These are great to make for a cookie decorating party!

Check out what our friends over at My Homemade Heaven had to say about these:

“The first thing my husband said after taking a bite of these cookies was, “Wow, these are soft!” My thoughts exactly!”

The softness of these cookies come from one secret ingredient which adds loads of moisture!

Ingredients

1 cup Land O’ Lakes butter, softened

1 cup Domino sugar

2 eggs

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups Gold Medal flour, sifted

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup Daisy sour cream

Buttercream Frosting

1/4 cup Land O’ Lakes butter, softened

3 cups Domino powdered sugar

1 1/2 tsp vanilla

3-4 Tbsp McArthur milk or Kefir

Cream Cheese Frosting

1 package of Philadelphia Cream Cheese (8oz)

2 cups Domino powdered sugar

2 Tbsp McArthur milk

1 tsp vanilla

pinch of salt

Instructions

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet or line it with parchment paper.

Mix butter and sugar until well combined. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.

Add in all dry ingredients and mix into the wet ingredients alternating with the sour cream, until well mixed.

Chill for 1 hour (optional-but I think it helps them not roll too flat).

Roll out and cut into shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet or one lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 7-10 minutes (I bake mine for 7 minutes so they stay softer longer).

Mix all ingredients for which ever frosting you choose in a medium bowl, and cover with plastic wrap until you’re ready to frost, otherwise the frosting will start to harden.

Once the cookies have cooled, frost them. You can add a few drops of food coloring to the frosting until it reaches the desired color if you like to change things up a bit or add sprinkles, or you can leave the frosting white. Enjoy!
