Oh man, how I love a good chunk of fudge. I am such a sucker for something that is chewy, a bit chocolatey and can be created in any shape or size. I remember I first discovered fudge when I was on vacation in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We were in and out of candy shops and I remember seeing a shelf full of this square looking goodness, while a guy stood behind a glass molding them with his hands, almost like kneading it. I was fascinated and knew I had to try it. I asked him where I could buy it and he asked if I wanted to sample the one he was making. I said sure. My gosh, it was the best fudge I have ever tasted to date.
The fudge he gave me was warm, creamy, gooey and oh so delicious. It was full of chocolatey goodness, but aside from that it had lots of spices and apple chunks that made it feel like a warm apple pie. The spices helped warm me up on that cold winter day and I was hooked. I headed straight to the counter and bought the largest box full…and then stopped by again before heading home for another box.
