It’s The Breakfast Pizza That Broke All Family Records

It’s not a food-eating contest, but that’s how it looks like whenever we have a family reunion. Imagine ten families (some already with the third generation), living in one house for a couple of days—it’s both a riot in a good and not-so-good way. Good because being together with family is always a highlight of one’s life. It feels good to be able to talk to people close to you, update yourself with what’s happening with them, and just hear each other’s laughter. Not-so-good because it’s really a bit chaotic. Everyone is everywhere. And there always seem to be a scarcity of food.

Whenever these reunions happen at our house, Mom and I already have the perfect solution. Right after I arrive, Mom and I prepare these pizza crusts. She has an old family recipe for the perfect crust. Perfect crust meaning chewy crust. We love chewy crusts! We prepare the pizzas the night before. We put different toppings on each crust (sausage and mozzarella; and bacon, eggs, and mozzarella are a favorite combination) and refrigerate them. The next morning, before everyone arrives, we put them in the oven. By the time the first family rings the doorbell, the pizzas are ready. The last family that comes has to be the most unfortunate. Because these pizzas never last long.
