Clap Your Hands For This Cheesy Beef And Cornbread Cobbler

I can’t get over how easy this dish is to make. My husband and kids really liked it and so did our grandparents.

This recipe truly is delicious and it’s so very easy to make. Try it out, today!

Ingredients

1 Pd. lean ground beef (cooked and drained)

1 large chopped onion

1 cup of chopped green peppers

1 clove chopped garlic (optional)

Add 1 can of Campbell’s condensed tomato soup,

1 cup of water,

1 teaspoon of black pepper

1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon of McCormick paprika

1 tsp Domino sugar

1 cup of Green Giant whole kernel corn, drained

2/3 cup Hunt’s diced tomatoes

(Mix all well and heat in skillet)

(corn bread top)

Combine 1 1/2 cups of corn meal

1/4 cup Gold Medal flour

1 tablespoon of sugar

1/2 teaspoon of Morton salt,

1 teaspoon of Clabber Girl baking powder,

1 beaten Eggland’s Best egg

2/3 cup Hiland buttermilk

2 tablespoons of Wesson vegetable oil.

Mix well

TOP:

Over (all) – also 1 cup Kraft sharp cheddar cheese

 

 

Instructions

Preheat oven 350 degrees.

In a large iron skillet, brown the lean ground beef, the green peppers,and 1 large chopped onion. (drain well)

Add the remaining filling items

Mix all the filling well (in the iron skillet) Heat until boiling.

Pour the cornbread mixture over the simmering ingredients in the skillet

1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese over all

The cornbread batter may disappear into the meat mixture but it will rise during baking and form a layer of cornbread.

Bake for 20 or 30 minutes or until the cornbread is lightly browned.

The recipe calls for putting the ingredients into a iron skillet. I would presume you could also use a Dutch-oven just as well? Some stoves are not able to use cast iron skillets.
