If you’re in the market for some homecooked comfort food then you need to try this recipe for Delaware farm-style chicken and slippery dumplings. This dish is simply amazing. Now, I ain’t gonna lie, this recipe takes some time and effort to prepare, especially if you use a farm-fresh chicken and need to butcher it yourself.
Never fear, though, you can purchase a local farmer’s chicken and have it pre-butchered. And if you can’t get a fresh chicken using one from the grocery store will work just fine, too. I know some of you city folk may need to go this route and that is perfectly fine!
Now, I’ve had chicken and dumplings many ways before but I’ve never had them in this “slippery” fashion. Wow! What a different way to make this classic meal. It’s more like a chicken soup or stew in my opinion.
I love how the flavors all intermingle with one another. My kids and husband really like this amazing meal and have described it as “comfort food” and that is exactly what it is. Enjoy!

Quick Tip: I like to add a dollop of grass-fed butter to the top of my dumplings as a condiment. It’s so good!
