This was always a side dish at my Grandmother’s house. While raking her leaves or playing in the yard, the smell of this on the stove..AHH ..Great memories and one of my favorites. Pass on the potatoes, serve these!
I can’t believe how tasty these stewed apples turned out. They make the perfect addition to so many meals. Yum!
Ingredients
6 Cups granny smith apples, peeled and chopped. (about 1 inch in size)
1/2 cup packed Domino brown sugar
1/4 cup apple juice (or cider)
Dash of lemon juice
1 teaspoon McCormick ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon Morton salt
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a large, heavy saucepan. Cover and cook over medium-low heat 45 minutes or until apple is tender, stirring occasionally. Let stand 5 minutes.
