The first time I heard the utterance of “tomato pie” I turned my nose up to the notion. Pies are supposed to be filled with chocolate and whipped cream, right? Wrong! Well, partially.
There is nothing bogus about a chocolate cream pie, but tomato pies are equally pleasant. I picked a few tomatoes from my garden and headed to the kitchen to whip up this awesome pie. After all, a tomato is a fruit.
You might think that this pie wouldn’t taste very good because it uses green tomatoes but let me reassure you, it comes out tasting like a dream come true. The cheese and mayo that goes into this pie really boosts the flavor of the tomatoes. I love how yummy it all turns out. The pie crust is baked to perfection and crumbled beneath your fork.
If you are a fan of any kind of pie you are really going to enjoy this dish. It makes the perfect entrée or lunchtime feast. I know it might be kind of late in the year to find green tomatoes but you can also use red ones from the store. The pie still turns out wonderfully. Enjoy!

Quick Tip: Make sure to pre-bake the pie crust to a light, golden brown.
I don’t see where it calls mayonnaise or cheese, in the Amish green tomatoe pie.
