Slap Some Ingredients Into The Slow Cooker For A Delicious Meal – 5 Crock Pot Recipes

One of the things that I like most about this 16-bean soup is how easy it all comes together. You simply toss all of your ingredients into the slow cooker and allow it to simmer to perfection all day while you go about your business.

Check out what my pals over at A Year Of Slow Cooking had to say about this recipe:

“I was ecstatic when April emailed me to let me know about the 16-bean soup her amazing daughter Alecksandra makes in the crockpot. By herself. And she’s eight.

If an 8-year-old can make this 16-bean Crock Pot soup anyone can! It really is that simple.

Ingredients

1 bag of 16-bean soup mix (if it comes with a flavor packet, throw it away.)

1 lb cooked and cubed ham

1 onion

3 cloves chopped garlic

2 t of your favorite spice rub

can of Hunt’s Italian-style tomatoes

water

Morton salt (add the salt at the last minute, a teaspoon at a time, according to taste)

It is up to you how much water you use. I did not measure, but covered the beans completely and filled the 6qt oval crockpot two to three inches from the top. If you want more broth, use more water, if you want it thick and beany, use less.

Instructions

Cook on low all day. The soup tastes the best the longer you cook it, and it tastes even better the next day.

Quick Tip: The 16-bean soup mix will most likely come with a flavor packet. Just toss that little guy into the trash. You don’t need those chemicals in your life 🙂

Thank you to A Year Of Slow Cooking for this great recipe.
