This Spread Gives New Meaning To The Phrase “Peachy Keen”

Take a peek what Ryan Goodwin at Cookpad had to say about this magnificent peachy apple butter recipe:

This is kinda a dudeley recipe. I say this because it requires very little finesse, and it’s kinda impressive.

Mmm! I need to bake up a batch of hot, fluffy biscuits to go with my homemade apple and peach butter. Do you know what else I like to do with apple butter fresh from my stove? Can it! I will preserve the butter and give it away as gifts to friends and family.

Ingredients

  1. 4 apples
  2. 4 peaches
  3. 1/4 cup water
  4. 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  5. 1/4 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a crockpot. Because fruit comes in various sizes, the ingredient amounts here should be considered guidelines. This recipe is really intended for situations when you have too much fruit. It should work fine for any combination of apples, peaches, nectarines, quince, cherries, etc. maybe even berries (with different spices).

Cook your fruit down. Let it go for, like, 6 hours minimum, stirring occasionally. It should cook down to a wonderfully fragrant goo.

Remove the lid and let it cook for another 45-60 minutes, stirring more often now. It should darken and thicken a bit.

Quick Tip: You can make this recipe with both apples and peaches or simply one or the other.

Thank you to Ryan Goodwin at Cookpad for this amazing recipe.

The instructions do not say when to add the sugar and spices. This doesn’t seem like the fruit cooks very long either, like apple butter usually does. Sounds good, but I need more specific directions.
