There is something to be said about a good apple butter. When I was a little girl, my mother used to make apple butter every August and September. The apples on our tree in the backyard where perfect for picking and tossing into the apple butter pot by this time.
Mom used to add another very special ingredient to some of her apple butter batches. Are you curious as to what this secret ingredient might be? Oh all right, I will tell you.
She would use peaches! We also had a peach tree and these fuzzy little gems of sweetness would give the apple butter such a uniquely pleasing flavor. I can still smell the aroma of mom’s apple and peach butter simmering in the pot right now as I type this.
Such fond memories of childhood! I was thrilled when I came across this amazing recipe for apple and peach butter. It is a lot like moms. Enjoy!

Quick Tip: It is a good idea to stir your apple butter often during cooking so the bottom doesn’t burn.
The instructions do not say when to add the sugar and spices. This doesn’t seem like the fruit cooks very long either, like apple butter usually does. Sounds good, but I need more specific directions.
