If I collected all of my grandmother’s recipes and compiled them into a book, I would have been a billionaire by now. She has the best home-cooked recipes that even the best chefs of today wouldn’t even dream about. It’s true, isn’t it? The best recipes hide inside the kitchen of normal households. The recipes that are passed on from one generation to another. The saying that “there’s nothing better than a home-cooked meal” is not just a metaphor for the feeling caused by the thought of home; it’s also literally true.
One of my most memorable pork recipe of grandma was her roasted pork with applesauce. Usually, I don’t like food crossovers. If you’re meant for dessert, you should just stay on the dessert side. For example, apples are usually made into pies, cobblers, or dipped into chocolates. If an apple suddenly crossovers to main course, it’s a no-no for me. But as usual, my grandma’s pork with applesauce was too good to pass up on and it’s another exception to my “no-no list”. The taste of apples was just subtle, allowing the pork to boast its own flavor. This recipe from Taste of Home reminds me of grandma’s recipe. Be prepared to be addicted!
