I am not fond of pumpkins except when I see them hanging from houses during Halloween.
Well, they do make the perfect Halloween decorations. But as food, it’s a taste that I did not learn to love even if I wasn’t a picky eater. I remember eating everything on the table, even my most hated vegetable called pickles (I don’t like anything sweet and sour), but I never touched the pumpkin.
It was during a friend’s birthday when I first tasted pumpkin as a pie. No matter how much you didn’t like a dish, when you’re in someone else’s house and it’s being served to you, you will have no choice but to eat it. Imagine my surprise when after I took my first spoonful, I actually loved it.
When I got curious and finally relented, my friend told me it was a recipe by her grandmother, her famous traditional pumpkin pie.
