When I was a little girl my dad would make a bonfire almost every single night in the summer. Our yard was the kind that neighbors would just pop in and sit at the fire with us and chit chat. My parents loved that! They loved having people come over and entertaining them. They even loved to feed people. If people came over while we were making dinner there was always an invite extended.
My favorite thing that we would make were hobo dinners. We would stick those puppies right in the fire and let tem cook! It was so much fun to have these nights. I sincerely used to love making the dinners myself. My mom would let me help cut up the veggies and prepare the food in the foil.
I always loved being the kitchen helping my mother. I think she appreciated the help too because every now and then she got to kick back and relax a little while I was doing the brunt of the work. It never felt like work for me. The smell of these cooking were so wonderful! Even just sitting in the fire outside. This was really a delicious dinner and a great memory!
