Rice is like a magic word at home. Whenever I say it, my husband and my kids look at me like I just said that Christmas will come early. Just kidding- it’s like a sign for them. They get excited whenever I say rice because they know that it accompanies a really savory dish that they love so much. Most of the time, this savory dish involves meat; and you already know how my family loves meat. Rice is the perfect accompaniment to such a savory meal because of its mild taste.
Asparagus on the other hand is one of my family’s most favorite vegetables. Unlike string beans, the texture of asparagus is better on the mouth. It also tastes really good and is the perfect side dish to savory meals.
So what happens when you combine two perfect side dishes to a savory meal?Well, another incredible meal that your family will surely love, that’s my answer. You don’t believe me yet, but you will.
This rice and asparagus casserole is a combination that you don’t expect will work together this great. I expected this casserole to taste ordinary and quite bland. I am glad that I’m wrong- this is far from ordinary.
I recommend that you try this recipe for your family-it’s healthy and it’s savory at the same time. You won’t go wrong with this. Just find the recipe on the next page for your reference.
