These meatloaf burgers are served best with ketchup and slaw. I like to put the slaw directly on my burger. It is really good. I also enjoy putting Heinz 57 sauce on these burgers for a more authentic meatloaf taste. Make sure you wait for the burger patties to completely cook through before flipping or you’ll have some issues with breakage in the pan.
Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way and broke my burger patty into a million pieces. Okay, I broke it in two, but still. LOL! No worries, though, it still tasted good.
Ingredients
1+1/2 pounds ground beef (can use lean or ground chuck)
8-ounce can Hunt’s tomato sauce (can substitute ¾ cup Heinz ketchup)
½ cup Quaker quick oats or cracker crumbs
2 Eggland’s Best eggs
½ cup chopped onion
⅓ cup chopped bell pepper
1 teaspoon McCormick garlic powder
1 teaspoon Morton salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Place a large skillet over medium heat while you prepare the meatloaf.
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix with hands until well mixed. Form into 4 doughnut shaped patties.
Place in heated skillet and brown on both sides, about 5-7 minutes per side. Add 1 cup water to skillet and continue cooking until juices run clear, about 5 minutes or so.
