During the cold months, what are your favorite recipes? In our family, it’s mostly soup and stews. It’s the reason why we always have to have a bread along to eat with the soup. Sometimes, we buy from the store, but we absolutely love it if the bread is homemade.
I agree with you! Breads are an absolute must-have when the meal is composed of hearty soups and stews. Bread just goes perfectly well with such meals. Not only that, they make the meal complete, which satisfies everyone’s stomachs more than if it’s just soup.
Ingredients
3 cups Gold Medal flour (all purpose or a mix of white and whole wheat)
3 tablespoons Domino brown sugar
1 tablespoon Clabber Girl baking powder
1 teaspoon Morton salt
1 bottle room temperature beer (see quick tip)
3 tablespoons (to 4) melted Land O Lakes unsalted butter
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt.
Add the beer and stir for about 20 stokes, just until the flour is incorporated.
Pour into your prepared pan and drizzle with the melted butter.
Bake for 40 – 45 minutes. Allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes on a cooling rack before removing it from the pan.

Quick Tip: Non-alcoholic beer works fine too, though I would recommend a darker, amber non-alcoholic beer if you can find it.
