Amish Farm Recipe: Sawdust Pie

When my husband’s family invited us to come and stay with them for a week in Kentucky, I was so excited.

It was a state that I had never been to, and I was super happy to be able to go an explore another part of the country. I had heard about the wonderful scenery, fun things to do, and the amazing food available in that region, and I couldn’t wait to go and try it out for myself. I think I packed my bag about three days before we were even scheduled to leave and had it sitting by the door. My husband came home from work and saw it and just shook his head and laughed at me. He knew I was read to go!

While we were there, we had so many things planned for us to do. They knew all the hot spots and cool places to go, so we didn’t waste any time looking for anything. They had it all plotted out ahead of time. One of the restaurants that we went to had “Sawdust Pie” on the dessert board. What the heck?

I’m usually not even a huge dessert fan, but this had me wondering. I had to get it and see what it was all about. It was all about delicious is what I found out! As soon as I got home I found the recipe for it on Facebook and made it at home right away.
