The day after Thanksgiving, I always invite my best friend, her husband, and my godson to eat dinner with me and my boyfriend.
It’s a tradition that we never break. We rarely see each other anymore even though we just live 20 minutes away from each other. We both lead busy lives and she’s a mother now, a responsibility she has to balance with work and being a wife.
We share an afternoon of laughter and stories over turkey pot pie and apple cobbler, while the “boys” (because men act like boys especially when they’re with a kid not their age) are doing their “man things” in the backyard. I cherish moments such as this—good company, good food, and a whole lot of reminiscing.
