When I first moved out on my own, I kind of forgot about the sloppy joe. My mom used to make them for our family all the time, but it’s kind of hard to make sloppy joes for one person. Then, when my husband and I got married and started having kids, they came back on the menu. I was using my Mom’s recipe for many years, and it was good. It reminded me of home, and they were easy to make. There weren’t a whole lot of ingredients so they were also affordable.
Then, I thought about how I could improve on her recipe. I decided to just start asking around to see how other families made theirs. One thing I figured out for sure is that everyone has their own recipe. The best advice I got was to do them in a crock pot. How simple is that?
I don’t know why we never thought of that before, but I was doing it like that from now on. The recipe I use today is just like this one from Spend With Pennies and the family loves it. Give it a try!
