When I was younger I actually lived in New Orleans for 3 years! It was a crazy city but definitely one of the more fun times of my life. I was fresh out of college and I just so happened to get a job in New Orleans. I knew that I wasn’t going to live there forever, but I definitely had a great time experiencing this culture! And believe me it was a huge culture shock to this Midwest girl!
One of the things that I appreciated about New Orleans and Louisiana in general, was the food. This state truly has their own cuisine and culture that is not like the rest of states. The seasoning was just so delicious. I loved every minute of this yummy food. I definitely learned how to love spicy foods, which I never thought that I would before!
My favorite dish is hands down, Jambalaya! I could eat this meal every single week. It is not hard to make and you can customize it how you want to. My kids definitely eat a lot of Cajun style food and they love it. Their friends are always surprised when they come over for dinner. I guess I should mention that I moved back to the Midwest. But now i get to bring that Louisiana flavor to the Midwest!
