This Ain’t Your Grandma’s Bread Pudding

My Grandma grew up in the generation where nothing ever got wasted. There was never food that got tossed out. That was like a sin to throw something away. If you put in on your plate, you were eating it. She always told us to start with small portions. That way, if we wanted more we could get more, but you can’t put back what you’ve already taken. I still use that rule today with my own kids. It works really well. We may end up with more leftovers, but at least a plate full of food isn’t going in the garbage.

Grandma always made homemade breads, but sometimes she would go a little overboard and it would get stale before it could get eaten. I think she did it on purpose though, so that she could make her yummy bread pudding. That stuff was the best.

When I saw this recipe for a donut bread pudding on Spend With Pennies, it brought so many memories back to me. I had to make this so I went and bought the donuts I needed. I didn’t even wait for them to go stale… like that would ever happen at my house. This is one of those new takes on an old classic that you can’t go wrong with.
