Cheesy Chowder Will Make You Feel Like A Kid Again!

I make this all the time now. It’s mostly a winter favorite, but once in a while in the summer, the craving will hit, and I’ll toss it together. Even though it’s a hot chowder, it’s still pretty refreshing. It’s nice not to have to run up the electricity bill because the air conditioner is running from the oven heating up the house when I do this in the crock pot. It can also be done on the stove in just a few minutes if you prefer. Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at Julie’s Eats & Treats:

Ingredients

Soup

2 c. water

2 1/2 c. diced potatoes

1 c. diced carrots

1/2 c. minced celery

1/2 c. chopped onion

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1 c. diced ham

Cheese Sauce

1/4 c. Land O’ Lakes butter

1/4 c. Gold Medal flour

2 c. milk

2 c. shredded Kraft Cheddar cheese

 

 

Instructions

In a medium saucepan bring the soup ingredients, except ham, to boil for 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Add ham.

In a small saucepan melt butter. Stir in flour and milk. Add cheese to mixture and whisk until melted. Add cheese sauce to soup mixture and stir until mixed.
