There was a time in high school when I got super duper sick. I don’t even really remember what was wrong with me, I just know that I missed almost two full weeks of school that year. It was awful. I didn’t want to eat. The only thing that made me feel better was sleeping. My mom was beside herself trying to do everything that she could think of to make me feel better. She tried all of her home remedies, everything Grandma and the Aunts told her to do, all on top of medicine and advice from the doctor.
One day she went out for groceries, and she came home with a bowl of soup from the deli that was located inside of the store. It was a cheesy broccoli soup and I’ll tel you what, it was the cure. This soup from Spend With Pennies reminds me a lot of that soup back then.
I found this recipe a few years ago, and I have been making it regularly whenever I can. I always make it when my kids are sick, and it seems to do the trick! It’s an awesome weeknight meal too because it’s all done in the crock pot.
