When my husband and I first met, I made him a strawberry shortcake cake for his birthday that year. He instantly fell in love with it, and I think a little more in me. Ever since that first birthday, he has asked for the same cake every year. I don’t mind making them, they are so tasty. The recipe that I was using was a bit outdated though, so I wanted to try something new and fresh. I found this recipe on The Pioneer Woman, and my mouth instantly started watering just looking at it.
I told the hubby I was trying something new the last birthday that he had, and he looked a little apprehensive. He didn’t want me to mess with a recipe that was working so fine for so many years. I told him to trust me, and he did, but I was making it anyways.
This turned out fabulously, and my husband loved it even more than my old recipe. This will be the new one for the rest of his birthdays to come, and I’m sure there will be a lot!
