My grandma used to make hamburger gravy for us all the time. To be blunt, I couldn’t stand the stuff. In fact, it would almost make me gag just by hearing the words. So, the idea of biscuits and gravy was never really all that appealing to me either. I didn’t even want to attempt at eating, much less making the stuff. When I got older, I became a little more open minded. I realized that I did in fact like ground breakfast sausage, so the sausage gravy probably wasn’t that bad… right?
The first time I tried it, I was at a friend’s house that made it. I was starving so I figured what the heck… least that can happen is I won’t care for it. Much to the opposite side of that spectrum… it was delicious! I was almost upset with myself for waiting for so long to try it actually.
I got the recipe from my friend, and I had a pretty good idea how to make it, just because I was watching her by the stove. The list of ingredients was just like this one from The Pioneer Woman. Simple, straight forward, and affordable. I make these at least a few times a month now. I have to make up for lost time!
