Once a month, my sister and I have a standing date. We take the night to get together, talk about our life’s happenings, and spend some adult time outside of the house. Life gets busy though, and at times, getting out of the house doesn’t seem possible. So, when our husbands were both out on a work trip, we decided that we would the evening together in, with our kids. Even though we cherish our adult time, we love our kids even more, so having them around was never a huge deal.
We got together a little earlier than normal, so that we could get the kids in bed at a decent time. She came to my house so I recommended making a dinner for everyone. I had seen a recipe for macaroni and cheese with a smoky flavor on All Recipes that sounded like it would work for everyone.
We all love the comfort food, so why not? I got all the ingredients and whipped it up before our guests arrived. Everyone gobbled this right up! It wasn’t so bad having our kids around, especially when there were no arguments about what was for diner.
