The first time that I went to my now husband’s parent’s house many years ago was for a dinner. We were grown adults at the time, but walking in the front door to their beautiful home, I felt like I was sixteen again. I couldn’t believe the nerves. They were very warm and inviting, and the meeting went incredibly well. Family has always been extremely important to me, so getting along nicely with his folks was an essential part of the relationship moving forward.
One thing that really stood out about that dinner was, well, the dinner. His mom was an amazing cook. She started us out with what I thought were normal deviled eggs, until I bit into one.
The bacon and cheese flavor that came out of them was like something I had never tasted before. The recipe was a lot like this one from All Recipes.
After that first meeting, several months later, I was sure to get that list of ingredients from her. After I had grown comfortable enough to ask for something so special!
