There is a secret ingredient in this pot roast that make sit different from other versions. I first tasted this version at a dinner in one of my friends’ house. My husband and I visited her because she just gave birth to a baby boy. We weren’t able to visit her in the hospital because of our schedules. So when we finally had the time, we went to visit her along with our kids. Her baby boy was so cute even though he was crying! He reminded me of our boys when they were still babies- those two were a combined force to be reckoned with when they started crying.
Since she didn’t know that we’re visiting, she hasn’t prepared anything other than a pot roast. She’s dealing with a family of meat lovers here- that wasn’t a problem at all, of course. We stayed until dinner and even met her husband who just arrived from the office.
Other than the scrumptious simple pudding for dessert, what caught my attention was the pot roast itself. There’s something different about it that I couldn’t pinpoint at that moment. She added something that made it taste that way.
It was a week later when I found out what it was. She sent me the link to this pot roast recipe by The Lemon Bowl. The secret ingredient is something you can find at your local grocery- hoisin sauce!
