As a kid, my food life revolves around meat and fresh vegetables. We have a small farm where we grew vegetables and fruits, and where we take care of animals. We didn’t live near any shore or fishing village. The closest to sea that we could have was that small lake; but it’s more of a place for picnics than a place for fishing. It’s the reason why we rarely had fish on the table. Whenever my Dad went out-of-town, he came back with fishes; and that’s when we had fish for days.
There were a few fishes available in the local market and the local grocery, but they were expensive. So we usually waited for Dad to just go out-of-town and come back with a barrel of fishes submerged in ice. My brother and I knew what that meant- a few days of eating nothing but fish.
Our favorite fish recipe was fish fillet. My brother and I loved fish and chips while my father preferred sweat and sour fish fillet. We all have our ways of enjoying it, but that’s what makes it a special dish anyway.
This easy baked fish fillet recipe that I got from My Recipes gives us another way of enjoying our fish fillet. It’s very simple, but I am surprised by the amazing flavors in this recipe. Even my husband asked if I did something else to the fish because it tasted really good.

Quick Tip: You can use any firm white fish: cod, haddock, or grouper work well.
